This pretty much always works for me too.
If you wash your wheels regularly and are using a dedicated wheel cleaner you're wasting money.
Strong wheel cleaners like those above are not needed except on neglected wheels and occasional deep cleaning.
Other than that, just use your left over wash after you do the car and use a variety of towels, brushes, whatever you need to get in all the nooks and crannies.
