To answer the question a few posts ago, a DI engine does not make any additional sound. I rented a Audi A3 3.2 DI diesel while on a business trip to Italy. The car was very fast and quiet. The only main difference in the DI engine is the pressure the fuel injectors operate at. REALLY HIGH PRESSURE!
