Mine does this as well. Bought the car new 5 months ago, and the noise has been present for as long as I can remember. Figured it was just the nature of the system, but I've never had a car with a power steering system that whistled like that. Keep us posted if you find anything out. I haven't checked the fluid level myself (as new as the car is, I wouldn't anticipate low fluid levels), but it's actually a good idea that I'll have to look into.
