According to
cars.com Ford and Microsoft co-developed the "SYNC" voice recognition system and other automakers will be able to offer it on their cars after 18 months of exclusivity for Ford.
That sounds about right for the 5th gen rollout, so maybe we can have a retro-ish interior (small screen & few buttons) and still get bluetooth & iPod/Zune integration.
