I am 100% in agreeance with this. This is why I dont believe in "upgrading" to a Mellling because I dont see it as any better than stock. I believe the oil pumps that fail, were installed incorrectly, or trying to run oil that they were not designed to move. Sure, just like any mechanical part, they break. But a Melling can break too. I just dont see it as insurance if everything was put back together per spec.

I have always been one to say the thicker oil can cause the pumps to fail. If GM made them to run 30w oil, then pushing 50w through them is like moving molasses.
