Yes, the inside of the heat shield is lined with insulation! That's definitely an extra-mile type feature that performance minded individuals can appreciate :-).
During the install the temps were taken inside and outside the enclosure: they were getting 90 degrees Fahrenheit inside and 180 outside. That was WITH insulation.. no numbers w/o it. That was just at idle temps. The car was not moving. Obviously inside the enclosure should be lower when the car is driving down the road!
