I was told that when the trans shifts soft it's because it has a little slip built in it. That's why they used to be called slush boxes. So if it shifts firm with more pressure and faster shift times it should last longer because it's not slipping. I have a 4L65E in a truck and my shift time is .25 of a second, I used to have it at .1 of a second, but it was always barking the tires. I hear there are a lot more tables on a 6L80E, and that should be since it has more gears.
