Yeah, I cleared $214.month when I enlisted.
My buddy and his wife are both officers and pull down a tidy 6 figure sum with housing allowances, food allowances, and flight pay/per diem.
An 0-3 with a little time-in-grade who flies cross country/overseas, and has a family, can pull down six figures.
The apartment is high end and the folks that gathered were likely there due to how close it was to local pharmacies and liquor stores - you know, places to loot. Nothing happened, but that's a good thing.
