You do save a ton of $ driving an electric car and i really wouldn't argue that. facts are facts.
Have you found an article showing how much you pay in power vs gas? I'm happy to admit I'm wrong but I just have a feeling you are simply shifting the cost of fuel to your power bill and the savings probably aren't what they claim.

I still think the cars are cool, I just feel the claims are a bit misleading.
