On my 77 Trans AM, I have never waxed over the decals. As a matter of fact Phoenix Graphics strong suggests not waxing stripes or decals. They do recommend a product called 303 Aerospace Protectant. My friend used this on his 33 year old decals and they came back to life great. It has UV protection and is breathable.
