actually if you make your case all emission componets are covered,the key words are possible damage to converter,and since the only reason the check enigne light in obdII systems is supposed to illuminate is for emission failures that may damage the converter in the first place is to its an easy argument to make,but most manufactures have added so much other crap that the initial laws regarding OBDII get lost,its all about the envirement and less pollution,as funny as that is in the end
