Exactly right, my Sierra Z-71 4x4 ( 5.3 V-8 ) gets better gas mileage (22 mpg on flat highway) than my S-10 ZR2 4x4 ( 4.3 V6 ) which will never get 20 mpg on the highway, of course the 5.3 is a lot newer technology, but the truck is A LOT bigger, wider, taller, heavier.
