I can shift from park, to neutral, and back and it doesn't make the noise.
I have a 2/SS with the automatic transmission.
I don't seem to have any transmission shifting or overheating problems.
I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow to have the stripe put on, and he's going to check it out for me.
Has anyone had this problem, or may know what could be causing this?
I talked to another member with a 2/SS auto, and they don't have the sound, so it's definitely a normal noise.

Thanks.
Same noise here as well, faint clicking noise when reversing the car out of my driveway. It is definately in the rear and will increase in frequency proportionate to speed. It seems consistent with a CV joint noise. I did a visual inspection and see nothing wrong with the boots and there doesn't appear to be anything rubbing on the shafts.
I am going to monitor it to see if it gets worse before i take it in.

BTW, mine is an M6
