If it doesn't get tucked in where it belongs, you're going to increase the odds that it won't stay there and it might start to allow the wind to get under the flap and run the risk of blowing the cover off at speed.

that's what I was trying to say. And as far as appearance goes, doing it like it is in the OP's picture does NOT enhance appearance at all...
