True - the OPP use them and some municipal forces. My recommendation, leave it at home if you can. If not, when you get over the boarder turn it off and maybe even wrap a polish rag around it or something. If you did get pulled over just point out that you're here for a short visit, you're not using it and it's hard wired. So removing it temporarily is a major task. I think they can still give you trouble but as long as you're not actually using it, and you don't get a cop with a bad attitude, you'll likely be fine.
