The 3:55 is the only option for the 2ls. I was checking into the SS swap for my auto LT and depending on options, it was running about 2,000.00 bucks. But with the SS transplant you also get positraction as the SS rear end is a limited slip differential and the automatic differential in the 2ls is an open diff that is only one wheel drive.
