Any time you paint on top of chrome, it doesn't really have a good surface for the paint to bond to. They also have tape edges, and aren't protected in clearcoat. If you do two-tone centers, go with a brushed center and then they can clearcoat over both the brushed and the red areas. It will be far more durable.
