It can go either way. It depends on if its any easier to put a LS7 vs a Gen V in there. It also depends on if GM wants to save the Gen V for the 6th generation or not. If there is a Z/28, then I would see it getting one of those engines. I think you are probably right that it's more likely to get the LS7. That seems to be consistent with how GM works. Ford, on the other hand, has been putting in brand new engines in existing generation cars like the F150 and mustang.
