corvette first used the hash marks at le mans in the 50s and 60s to distinguish their cars as they ran their laps.corvettes were all white ! Zora Arkus Duntov(acknowledged father of the corvette) instructed his pit crews to add the hash marks so it'd be easier to tell which 'vette was which .they only go on the driver's side(counterclock-wise at thew race track,and the pit crews are onthe infield at pit row !
