If you don't clear coat the entire body panels and just clear coat the stripes, you can use a Satin or Matte Clear Coat to get a similar finish as the factory black stripes.

As for ghost stripes, they are kind of like ghost flames on hot rods. You don't really see them unless the light hits them right. Kind of like this one I saw at a car show a couple of years ago:
