Not so much. The stock mufflers are basically hollow. The hemiholz mod is a capped pipe that comes off of the exhaust, it's where sound goes to die.
Look for the pictures of the cutaways of the stock LS3 mufflers...they are basically sheet metal cans surrounding straight through pipe with Helmholtz resonators inside...which is why they flow so dam well.

My car just sounds way too wicked with the Kooks 1.875's, high flows, and Dynomax Bullet 3" catback for me to ever go back though.
