Splitter scraped - damage repair

I recently had to turn around on a small street and there was a driveway with a stupidly steep angled face on it. Anyway, I miss-judged how steep it was and I scraped the splitter backing out of it on one side underneath.

So now I have some scraped plastic that can be seen from the front and underneath that looks bad but probably is not affecting the performance of it. (Sorry no pics yet.)

So two questions: will this affect performance at speed or on the track? And what is the best way to repair it? (I was thinking of just sanding it down and calling it a day.)
