I used AOL, but only for one thing...Neverwinter Nights. It was the precursor to all the MMORPG's. Based off the Gold Box TSR D&D games, it allowed you to play in a single world (no shards) which could have "gasp" hundreds of other people playing at the same time. EGA graphics, and 2D turn based combat.
It was awesome for the time, but the only downside was having to have AOL to play it.
