Drove the car with the device installed in a known condition where AFM always seems to kick in. Sport mode - steady speed of about 45 mph. AFM did not kick in. Reached down and unplugged the device fr the obdII port. AFM kicked in shortly after. Convinced this does not modify the stock ECM parameters for AFM.

Yeah - we don't recommend that test, but I have done it hundreds of times. According to our engineering folks, there is about a 1 in a million chance of something going wrong.
