If you're going to lower the front you might as well lower the back as well. The car is going to ride funny if you put aftermarket springs up front and not the back. The old worn out, saggy springs in the back are going to feel more loose than the front. And please don't cut the stock springs. When springs are made they are manufactured to give the optimal ride at a particular height. Cutting them throws the whole geometric equation off and it rides like poo. Whey don't you just get a set of Hotchkis lowering springs, which will lower it approximately 1.5" front and back. Here's how they look on my car:
