When I installed mine I tried to us as much of the stock tubing as possible. I'm the person who made the above video. I just felt if I could use as much of the stock tube as possible, the plastic would hold up better than the rubber.
The can definitely helps, there is so many of them on the market now. I guess everyone is trying to cash in lol
