Granted, LCDs are pretty good, but I've had more LCDs fail than speedometers.
Still, I would find it disconcerting if the entire dashboard went dark, or turned purple, or the display inverted itself while I was traveling down the freeway.

Thanks! One of the nice things about the idea is that it as long as the two basic requirements are met (OnStar and Bluetooth), you can add it to any GM car without monkeying around with anything else. Best kind of upgrade (nearly invisible).
