Detroit, MI (May 10, 2012) – Panther Racing driver JR Hildebrand visited the General Motor’s Proving Grounds in Milford, Michigan last week as part of a Chevrolet program to reward the company’s top 50 dealers. Dealers from across the United States were brought to the Proving Grounds and treated to the thrill ride of a lifetime in the new Chevy ZL1 Camaro driven by a cast of Chevy drivers. The perfect car for these hot laps, the ZL1 Camaro was the right combination of sports car and high performance.
“I was just blown away with the ability of the car. Its got a ton of grip, the breaks are awesome, and lap after lap the only thing that was wearing out were the tires,” Hildebrand explained. “So that was pretty impressive for a street car to be that good.”
In addition to Hildebrand, Chevy also brought out fellow IndyCar drivers Helio Castroneves, Will Power, and Ryan Briscoe as well as NASCAR drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Jeff Burton to give the top dealers hot laps in the new ZL1 Camaro.
The Chevy drivers put the new Camaro through its paces as they ripped around one of the Proving Grounds most unique test tracks, the 2.9 mile Milford Road Course, which is made up of some of the most famous turns from tracks throughout the world.
“It was cool to be able to get that experience and check out the test track and the car,” Hildebrand said. “It was a lot of fun because the track is very technical and really quite challenging; there are a lot of blind corners and a lot of high-speed corners.
Even Chevy engineers got in on the action and took multiple hot laps with the drivers.
“It was super fun,” Hildebrand concluded. “It’s just one of those perks of the job that we get to come out and hang out with the whole Chevrolet family.”
