Just to be specific I do push the clutch pedal all the way down when I shift. When I meant it never went to the floor I should have said it never stayed on the floor as in the pedal would not return to its normal position.
Others have had this problem usually caused by the pressure plate being loose.
My apologies for the the confusion there.
I believe pushing the pedal all the way to the floor is the correct way and that is how if have done it with all my vehicles.
