Ladies and Gentlemen.......when we started production of the 1998 F-car - we held them for nearly 6 weeks - perhaps 7 -
There were a couple of small issues that we were not happy with.
This is nothing new in the industry.
What IS new: Sites like this where we give you more information than you've ever had...........not all the information you want, but more than you've ever had..........
Keep this in mind: You've already heard Al and various members of the team say that over 1/3 of the car has been re-engineered - that means that over 1/3 of the car has 'unique' part numbers.
That's a lot of parts.
That's a lot of suppliers.
In the past you would have not really known when we started building new models - and you would not have been able to get pics of them sitting in shipping lots........
See-- that's one of the 'down-sides' of the internet........
Yes - we (that's you and me) want to get behind the wheel of a new ZL1 - we can 'taste' it because we want it so bad.........
......but you see -- the 'easy' thing to do is to ship cars and say "oh the heck with the customer" - THAT'S what gets you (as a manufacturer) into trouble real quick. And we refuse to do that.
So - I'm asking you to be patient.
It will be worth the wait.
(.....wow.....this may be word-for-word from mid-year 2009 - when we started building 5th gens!)
