ITs all about feel, it will take some time to get the release point perfectly. Once you have than, you wont burn the clutch. Ive had 8 different manual cars and they all released differently. It took me a few weeks on each to perfect the release point.

Also, my camaro smelled badly even with good shifting for about 1600-1800 miles. So if its new, it gonna be worse.
