How can you possibly know if you've achieved correction with all that gunk on the paint? You should ALWAYS wipe residue between polishing steps, IMO. That way you can inspect the paint and hit it with another pass if needed before going to your finishing polish. You're not going to correct with FMP something that SHR left behind.

1. Compound, wipe off
2. IPA wipe to remove any possible oils that may fill or mask swirls
3. If it's good, polish. If not, go back to step 1.
4. IPA wipe again, inspect. Good, proceed to sealant. Not, repeat step 3

Yes, it'll take you an extra minute per panel. But getting all done with the car and realizing you didn't get all the swirls costs you a whole day.

I will allow you to demonstrate this process on every single panel on my Z until you are satisfied that we have learned how to do it right...... When your back in the midwest give me a ring.
