I have been reading on this as I would love to add them but if you just add longtubes and then tune sometimes the results are disapointing.

Unless thats the only mod you plan on doing yes they are pointless for the price. Add a tune, bolt ons, a pulley swap and youll be happy you did, you wont see much of a change going to high flow cats on the dyno, more then likely you will see a large MPH change at the track.
When i had a Maggie 112 on my GTO i was stuck running 11.7 @ 114.XX, gutted the cats and ran a test pipe, showed no increase in power on the dyno, but ran 11.4x @ 118.XX.
