I did notice this. If I was stopped and pressed on the pedal fairly hard (harder than neccessary), then when I took my foot off the brake, the car held more firmly than if I just pressed the brake just enough to hold my position.
The harder you press the brake pedal, the firmer the car will hold it there after you take your foot off the pedal.
