You should have your Passports within 2-3 months. I applied at Consulate and it took me 1 month to get them back.
You should not have a problem with timing if you apply soon, you have plenty of time for them to arrive before August.
On the drive up We were planning on stopping over in Nashville, TN to see some of the sights there.
