I've done it before on my last car, mind you it was much older but had similar inserts. They were normally leather but started to peel from age so I wrapped them in black suede. Worked out very well.
I'm not sure if I'm going to wrap or just replace. When I get some time, I wanna take em out and really have a look and see which way will look better. I might just take it to an upholstery shop and have them wrap it in leather.
