Well, the 4.0 seems to be standard fare for both the autos. So there is no outlier there. The V8 manual has a normal first gear ratio. The V6 manual comes straight from the Caddy, so the explanation there is easy - granny gear. Which, I don't like, but its life. As for the auto vs. manual difference on the SS - I don't honestly know. Is it normal for an auto to be geared steeper to get going better? Not sure.
