My arm will clear a CAN of soda... or pop... or soda pop... if it's in the front holder, since it's lower. I also found that if I have a 20oz bottle of something (with cap firmly in place), I can prop it against the passenger side of the center console using the handle that adjusts the front/back movement of the passenger seat to hold it in place. Still easily reachable from the driver seat and stays put pretty well. If it were to ever come loose during a sudden move it would just roll around on the passenger floor and not get into the pedals. That's why I never put it on the driver side. Other than that, yeah, I make the wife hold the drinks.
