How many miles? and when was it purchased?
If you're close and you ask nicely, just plead the case of "look, i'm barely past by warranty. This isn't something that should happen this soon, is there anything you can do to help out of good faith?"
If that doesn't work, run it up the ladder and call GM support. Just be friendly (at least the beginning).
I had warranty work done on my Corvette that was over a year past warranty. They did it because the car was still low mileage and GM is going to pay them back anyways.
