Shifter

It does have that nostalgic look, I chose the black knob. It is so short and crisp! I think you will like it.

I'm not avery good example. I do these projects and really take my time. I have a lift in my garage was very useful for this project. The only difficult parts were getting the stock knob off because I di not see the set screw and it was not in the directions or the video, and then getting the dust boot back on after connecting everything underneath. not much room to worka nd thats why you need to lower the trans.

Good luck.

Mr Toad.

Don't have to take it out just loosen the rear cross member bolts to lower the tail shaft.

I have the same shifter on my 2011 SS. Total install time for me was about 45 mins. I had my car on a lift though. It would've taken me longer if I was working on the ground with jack stands.
Loosening the transmission crossmember bolts is very necessary.....unless you have very small hands. Honestly, the most difficult steps for me was ensuring the rubber dust boot is properly seated and getting the black plastic loops around the shifter stick.
Read everything ahead of time in the instructions:

http://www.hurst-shifters.com/wp-con...ds/3916030.pdf

It's all worth it. I like the looks and short throw shifting.

I ordered mine last week and it should be here in the next couple of days. I wanted to install a red hurst ball that I had in my 4th gen camaro but didn't want to thread the stock stick so I went with the hurst. I'll put the old one in a box and save it. I got the suede package and after 6k the knob is already looking matted.

oldtoad...was thinking of dong the same to my ZL1. I had one of my 2SS and loved it but my concern is the hight of the Hurst shifter as the stock one is nice and small and sits low. Does the Hurst sit up much higher? Do you have an interior photo of it you can share?
