Vitesse throttle controller
I've had this throttle controller for a long time now without any problems, but I just recently installed another new cam (GPI SS1 to a BTR Stage 3) and the installer's tuner said to take the throttle controller off, it will mess things up. I'm not sure if he meant the tune or the engine. Any thoughts?
Thanks, John

Neither. Run it all you like.
If it ever gives you issues then remove it. But I think your installers tuner doesn't know what he's talking about.

Think he means there are some people that have had problems with them and caused lower power mode. But if yours has been fine for years I would leave it and enjoy it.

Lol, you just had a very bad experience. I remember that. I don't blame you for how you feel though. I would have been pissed too.
He's been running with his on a cammed car for a while though. Well yeah, it's understood that they do not play nice with everyone's cars. I just wish it was possible to figure out what the heck the difference is between why it runs fine in some peoples rides and not in others. I have every single mod that should trigger a Reduced Power Mode but have never had any issues. Flying Banana couldn't even get the damned thing to work on his car and I think Vitesses support (or lack thereof) failed him as well. It makes no sense why some cars are ok and some others reject them.

Yeah, you get used to it and it feels weird when it's not connected. I took mine off for a few days when I got my ported throttle body, but I still missed it so back on it went.
If it ever gives you trouble or causes Reduced Power Mode then you can either calibrate or remove it. But it won't cause any actual physical harm to the car at all.

I would at least try and get some more information from the tuner. Did he say that as a matter of opinion, or is there a technical reason due to some aspect of the tune.
I had one for few years, I liked it. It would go into limp mode occasionally, but nothing a quick recalibration wouldn't fix. I took it out when the car had to have some minor bodywork done, and never put it back in. But I was all stock. |

I did the same thing, they said I wouldn't need it with the ported throttle body. No where near the same. I put it back on as well. |

I've been thinking about trying a pedal commander.
Good memory infidevil. The car was nearly stock at the time and vitesse support was terrible when it came to getting a refund. And yet other people put it on and have zero issues. I was told by vitesse that they got a batch with faulty wiring and that's why I had a problem. The very next thought in my head after hearing that was "and you sold it to me anyway knowing this?".

I've heard nothing but good things about it. Never anything like what the Vitesse can cause.

I think the biggest trick to these things is to not adjust them on the fly. Neutral in a manual and park in an auto makes sense so there is no load on the engine.
