Yes that's a different scale , and if you convert it to lb/foot = to 140.45 , so it's close enough .

Manual says 140 lb ft.....but many in the forum say GM actually use 100 lb ft... so there is a lot of confusion.

What happens if you don't torque the wheels properly? I mean that when you go to the tire shop they dont care much to measure the torque when re-putting the wheel on , unless I am not aware that the automatic gun used to bolt lug nuts is set at the correct torque....but different cars have different torque and I have never seen them recalibrate their tools.......

Always go by the manual, which is by engineers and not some guy at the dealership. 100ft/lb is normal for cars... SUV's and Trucks normally 140, so the guys at the dealership just might be clueless

TKs Mikeyroche,

so eventually you say the right torque is 140 lb/ft as the manual says even if Camaro is not a truck?

He's saying our wheels are the size of truck/SUV wheels, so they get torqued tighter. My jaw dropped when I saw that torque spec the first time, then when I went looking for tires I figured out the ones that fit my wheels are basically truck tires. 140 ft-lbs is right and the first time I didn't tighten them to specs the steering wheel was wobbling like crazy so I hit them with the torque wrench then and that problem went away.

Thank you Hulk for your explanation!! I will have my torque checked for all 4 wheels

My 2012 owner's manual says 110 ft-lbs for lug nuts with blue tint conical seats, and 140 for silver tinted lug nut conical seats.

When I pulled off a wheel from my 2012 SS yesterday, the lugnuts seats were blue, so 110 ft-lbs is the correct torque spec, at least for 2012 SS.

+1 on Fookintite. Are you sure that's German and not Norwegian?

I'm going to split the difference and shoot for around 130 lbs if it feels right/tight enough.
