Car trouble- coolant temp sensor
So I got a 2015 v6 camaro LT. It was leaking water/coolant so after checking it out it was determined that the waterpump needed replaced. So.. the water pump was replaced and also the thermostat for s&g. After this a P0128 code KEEPS popping up.. coolant temp sensor. The thermostat has been changed, the temp sensor has been changed twice, but the code keeps coming back. We reset the car by unplugging the battery, then when reconnected we do the turn the ignition on, pump the gas 3 times thing.. and it does good for about 100 miles
Then the code comes back, changed the ect, 100miles, and it's back.. the P0128. Do I really have to change the thermostat again? It was a lovely day the first time ;-) Any thoughts out there?? I'm ready to junk it almost. |

Earlier today I searched high and low trying to locate the coolant temp sensor on my LFX V6. Where the heck is it? There's another forum member trying to find its location and I figured it had to be easy to locate. NOPE! I sure hope it's not under the intake like the Gen 6 LGXs.
Your problem could be wiring or a bad ground. I'm just guessing but if you've already replaced key components that's the next diagnostic step I would take.

Drivers side of the engine.. find the oil dipstick.. then look towards the car body, roughly mid engine. It often has a kind of heat shield over it, mine looks a bit like aluminum foil on the outside. The shield is about 3 inches long and maybe 1 1/2 inches round. Pull the shield up the wire that's going into it and you'll uncover the coolant temp sensor. If this don't help I'll try to post a picture later.

Need to follow the service manual steps to diagnose the code. it should step you through the steps to determine if it's thermostat, sensor, wiring, etc.
Typically wiring and usually sensors issue will return values that are completely unrealistic. Did you go with a stock thermostat temp? |
