Help please! Reverse lockout failing.
I have a 2010 2SS.
Suddenly last night, my reverse lockout stopped working. I was trying to shift into 5th and was unable to go into the gear, grinded, and then realize that I was actually attempting to shift into reverse at that point. This has never happened before, no warning signs, nothing. I only have 15,000 miles on the car and don't abuse it. I did some research and found that it could be a computer glitch, so I disconnected the negative battery terminal for about 10 mins, and still nothing. The car is still under warranty, but if there is a quick fix I can do myself rather than having my car stuck in the shop potentially for days, then that would be a big lifesaver. Thanks. |

Well....If it's the same as I had on my 97 Z28, the reverse lockout would be a solenoid. It's a quick fix, or at least it should be if its the same. I had to replace it in the Z, took longer to get the car up/down than it did to replace it. Since it's still under warranty, bring it in shouldn't take too long to fix.

Have you tried seeing if it was a one time thing by gently shifting towards Revers while doing say 10 MPH or so? If it's still not blocking properly then take it in.

Rich, I had this happen to me last summer. I got under it and checked the wiring connected to the trans. Wiggled everything around and made sure it was all connected. Let it down off the jack and it worked. Must have been a loose wire/connector. Haven't had it happen again. Hope yours is that simple. Good Luck. Rich

I finally got around to replacing the Reverse Lock-out solenoid on my car and when I got the old one off, there was transmission fluid coming out of the connecter on the back. I'm guessing that this had something to do with it it working intermittently.....
