Project: Yellow Jacket

I adore my 2013 rally yellow SS/RS. I decided to finally make a “project car” out of it and do some decent mods. It never had rally stripes or any other factory add-ons to make it look like a transformers edition. However, after 3 plus years of getting “Bumbulbee” from people in parking lots, gas stations, and any other public place, it was time to do something about it.

For me, a project car needs a theme, so I thought…a yellow SS can’t escape from the transformers mythos. But, rather than another Bumblebee clone, I asked WHAT IF the decepticons tried to clone Bumblebee, but their creation went rouge.

Project: Yellow Jacket - Decepticon experiment gone rouge. Yellow Jacket has a bad attitude & insatiable lust for speed. Follow along in his creation.

So far:
Cosmetic mods -
De-chrome the exterior:
Oracle halos all around and color matched white. Afterburner tail light halos and smd concept side markers, started as clear, then custom smoked.
Heritage grill, finished in all satin black.
Tail light bezels finished in satin black. (Might change these to Carbon Fiber)
Black Camaro lettering.

Bolt-on engine mods:
K&N Blackhawk intake.
ACS functional mail slot radiator support (mail slot should have been functional from the factory…but, this is why we mod)
Corsa cat-back exhaust with x-pipe, black tips. (NO DRONE!!!! This exhaust is amazing for the L99. Love the sound. Nice rumble at start up, not to loud at idle, nice roar when you put your foot down. Didn’t notice the factory exhaust droned until the Corsa was installed.)

Suspension mods:
Bilstein B6 shocks/struts, front and rear.
Eibach pro-kit springs. (nice progressive rate. Much better than stock.)
Hotchkis Adjustable Sport Sway Bars. (1.25 inch diam front and rear)
BMR Front Sway Bar End Links
Hotchkis Chassis Max Brace (Install was less than 20 minutes using a lift. Fitment was perfect.)
Camaro now handles like it is on rails, but still a comfortable ride.

Interior:
Dyed all stitching yellow. Gotta love fabric dye pens. Low cost mod (under $30 in materials) but nice, subtle change.
SRP Racing Pedals (block design in black powdercoat finish)
More interior mods, see stereo section.

Stereo:
Focal K2 Power ES 165 KX3 (3-way component system for front)
EC 165 K (rear coaxials)
Two E 25 KX subs (Custom enclosure)
Audison Voce amps
Custom door/kick panels.
Full length center console, making the rear to full bucket seats, and much more.

The build is still underway. Follow Yellow Jacket’s creation on instagram.
