Why you should not be driving over a mattress

Found this online.
Pretty crazy.

My friend used one as a traction device in the snow once. It tore the rear u-joint out of the driveshaft. We had to ride our motocross bikes home on the dirt roads in the dark then through the city. Good times good times.

A few years ago, one of those teeny- bopper boy stars--- might have been a Jonas brother--- made the news when he ran over a mattress in his Escalade... he pulled over and stopped, but the thing had already wrapped around the axle, and ignited. Burned the car to the ground, but fortunately, nobody hurt.

Good rule of thumb: never ever ever ever ever EVER run over mattreses. I cannot imagine how difficult it would be too unravel and remove all of the wire, foam, fabric, and mite colonies, even IF it didn't directly damage the vehicle.

Then there was my buddy's friend... he was moving from one house to another, only a couple of miles. He didn't feel like going to all of the trouble of trying it down with rope 'n' stuff... so, he laid on top of it (paperweight theory) while his mom drove the pickup... just a couple of miles.

Yes, he went parasailing. Almost killed him, but he did survive with permanent brain damage.

So, don't run over mattresses, and don't go airborne with them.

Ugh - I hate it when mobile websites completely defeat the point of what your trying to see. What happened to the whole point of a smart phone showing the web in all it's detail?

One time (not at band-camp) I ran over a large empty trash bag (couldn't avoid it)....That thing completely melted and stuck to the exhaust pipe...I couldn't remove it, or ever get rid of the burnt plastic smell...lol...Didn't keep the car long after that anyways...and I wasn't gonna put on a new exhaust system just for that....

That is funny, you never want to run over a plastic trap or plastic bag either.
Nasty
