Nothing is True

I'm back!! :) but I need advice, please
So....waaaaaaay back in 2009, I bought my 2SS. I loved it and drove it with love.
....but I kinda made a mistake. In Nov 2011, I traded it for a Jeep. Granted, I loved the Jeep, but I LOVED the Camaro. I should've kept the 2SS and gotten a 10 year old beater Jeep. Lesson learned. As of yesterday and today, I'm shopping for another 2SS....and trading in my 2012 Rubicon (did I say I really wasn't fond of Chrysler? lol) Anyway....I'm looking at two different 2014 2SS's and was hoping for a bit of advice. Excluding obvious incentives (in my case $2000 and a $1000 incentive), how much room off of MSRP does a dealer have? What is a reasonable expectation for price below sticker? At the moment, I'm favoring a red 2SS stick with nav. MSRP is $41295 - $3000 incentive.... for a total of $38,295. A competing dealership 40 miles away, has almost the same car in automatic (no nav) for MSRP $42,230, but is discounting it to about $39,000 ($2000 incentive and the rest of their own "sales" price). Does anyone have any insight to help me evaluate? What is a reasonable final sale price in your opinion? Thanks in advance.... I can't wait to be back in the 2SS. I missed it ever since I gave it up DB

Keep going lower.
Use this link, with your dealers' zip codes, to obtain the price they're willing to sell the exact VIN at using a GM Supplier Discount Code: GM Supplier Discount Locator You don't need a code, just figure that price as a reasonable bargaining point. Also take into account that these are about to be leftover 2014s in a month or so when the 2015s hit the lots. Use that to your advantage when negotiating. |

To me the more important decision that a couple thousand dollars is your preference of Auto VS. Manual. To save a grand or so up front and be disappointed down the road is not worth it.

I agree. I'm 99.999% sure I'm going with stick. I was just keeping my options open for a wee bit longer. I honestly can't imagine not getting stick.

I just bought my 2SS in July. Walked out of the door with $44000 loan Got extended warranty, loan insurance and other packages. As this is my first Chevy purchase (been a german car lover for years). Sticker price was $42000, got it for $39500 after discounts. I took the 1.99% APR instead of $2000 Cash offer. |

Here's how I buy new cars.
1) Configure exactly the car I want. I like bells and whistles, but not some "dealer installed" options like more expensive floor mats or trim. 2) Go to Kelly Blue book and find the prevailing retail price in my area. 3) Order from local, preferably small, independent dealer ( many dealers are part of a huge chain; I stay away from those). I may not get a rock bottom price, but I'm always quite a bit below retail. |

I wish you the best of luck, either outcome. Thanks, Jason EDIT: Ooops, didn't notice this: You have made your decision. Don't spend less money on an automatic (yes, it sounds weird) if a certain dealership will price one lower than a manual. |

Don't ever be afraid to give them a lowball offer, In my history of buying cars I usually pay about 8-10 grand below msrp.
