Strange humming 1-3k RPM

The engine has a sort of whirring/humming sound instead of the normal “roar.” It only happens after I start driving. If I start it up, no whirring, put it into drive, starts whirring, even if i go into park, neutral, and reverse, the whirring continues until i restart the engine again.
Sometimes it sounds dangerously loud over speeds of 30MPH.
Any ideas?

Are you 100% sure it’s coming from the engine and not the transmission?

Engine noises are fairly consistent once shit breaks.
