Keep stock parts?

I just put in a CAI intake in my car last week. I put the stock intake in the box and kept it. I will be having headers and a suspension package put in my car very soon. The place that is installing the headers and suspension said I should keep all of my stock parts. I guess that is so if I ever want to put them back on the car or sell the car, then I can put it back to stock. It seems like another one of those things that will just accumulate the usual boxes of stuff I'll never use again (the infamous "boxes of crap" I see to keep accumulating). I do have a place to put them, but it's just more stuff.

I'm curious to know what your thoughts are about keeping stock parts. Should I just try to sell them?

I still have the stock suspension and air intake for my truck. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them either, but I have them "just in case." I'd probably do the same should I mess with the Camaro.

So far I've been keeping my stock parts and I don't plan on selling them.

I'd say if you are not driving the car much, and you might sell it as a collectors item or have low miles and and keep it cherry, then yes. if you are gonna drive it a ton, and either keep it forever or sell it when it dies, then it doesn't matter. get it out of your way.

You will probably get close to nothing for stock parts, plus its always a good idea to have them handy in case of warranty issues, or trade in.
i glad i saved most of the parts from my FJ cause when i traded it in for the camaro, i had to take all the aftermarket stuff off, (I got more money out if it than if i would have trade it in as is)

Always hang on to stock parts, unless you find a way to get good cash. Everyone's hit it pretty well so far. If warranty issues arise, or you look to trade it in the future the stock pieces can come in extremely handy. The only part that takes up enough room to really need to get out of the way is the exhaust. Just my thoughts...

This is not a happy story.
I modded the crap out of my truck (in signature) was in trucken magazine.
I kept all my stock parts.

The bad part,
I had a garage fire and the garage and the truck was a total loss.

The good part,

the insurance company gave me MRSP on every part. I ended up getting 10,000.00 dollars on part that I took off and were completly worthless to me.
For example the stock radio I got 1200 dollars for.
So yes keep your parts you may need them one day.
Mark

As it has been said, we are only the keepers of the cars we own, assuming the cars last longer than we do. The car will be more valuble with the stock parts, giving the next owner the option to go stock, it they choose. Keep all your paper work (history of the car) too.

I dont plan on selling my car, however its always good to have stock stuff..JUST in case. To avoid the parts turning into the other useless stuff get a separate box just for the car parts and keep them all together.

I never considered this possible benefit!

I think I'll keep all the parts. However, there is no way I will be putting my car back to stock just for them to service it. I cannot swap headers, drop springs, sway bars, etc. myself. I may have to live with a "limited" warranty. So, I won't be keeping the parts to do a quick swap before the dealer finds out. I am planning to keep my Camaro forever and so maybe it'll be worth more at my estate sale if all the stock parts go with it!

I keep everything except the catback exhaust. That big ugly heavy thing just had to go.

I like to keep everything else in case I want to return the car to stock to sell or trade.
You can also sell your mods once you return your car back to stock.
