Number of Camaros Pre-Ordered???

The last number I've seen was "over 6,000" which was over two weeks ago.

What's the most up to date tally a/o today???

So, if the initial allocation through Q3 was 15,000 vehicles and orders are slowing down significantly, the thousands remaining when dealers are allowed to begin ordering lot cars(Dec.-Jan.) will become theirs. And I imagine if they so choose, they can bump those cars to the top priorities ahead of ours. Hmmmm!

I am rather new here. I think all the info here is awesome, but there seems to be just a tad (said lightly) to much paranoia!

The orders will be first since they have money on them. If the order was placed correctly you will have a preorder code. Those are codes of cars already in the order system. I do not thing the dealer will have much input as to what the factories produce with the exception of placing, or not placing their preorders into the system. Just make sure you get your preorder code. Everything will be good.

I myself am stoked, and just waiting to get my Camaro! It has been on order and I know all the attention GM has been gettting lately will not prevent my order from coming. To much time and money already invested, and the return on their investment will help them to get back on track.

Those are just the enthusiasts...they haven't even really marketed this car. How many Camaro ads have you seen? Any Camaro commercials?

They'll fill the allotted number.

My dealer has been advertising in the sunday paper for weeks now that 50 are available for order. It should say "49"....because he told me he got an allocation of 50.

If GM needs money they should be building our sold cars first....its instant cash upon delivery instead of sitting on a dealer lot while he trys to get over MSRP on it. Ya know its gonna be happening....

Of course, if more orders come in due to advertising, dealers will be happy to submit them as part of their allocation, because our current orders as well as those are "sold" vehicles. But you must consider, the current market beyond enthusiasts is lean at this time.
At the lower right of the Orderworkbench printout, if you've ordered a Camaro, is a priority number, which I believe is controlled by the dealer. I was merely suggesting that if all his allocations weren't filled, and considering preorder cars as in the bag, lot cars he could turn into "sold" vehicles would then be his primary concern and he would be inclined to rearrange the priorities.
So, yeah, I guess I'm a little fearful of that, since I'm a first time customer at my dealership and I have no doubt that to them total sales come before the timely production of my car. But in the end, whether I get my Camaro in March or September, I'm gonna be one happy hotrodder! But I can't say I wouldn't like to see sales even higher at this point.

The dealer DOES have the ability to change the priority of the orders at any time, regardless of your pre-order. Most dealers will stand by their word and order your cars as promised. However, if they aren't building SS's that week for that particular dealer, you can bet he'll fill his allocation with a V6 before waiting on the next SS allocation.

Also, having a car on the lot is a GREAT thing for them. It will bring in a bunch of "lookers" that may end up purchasing something else. Sorta like putting all the vettes on the road side.

I know my dealer is quite anxious to deliver on his orders. I think if you are with a reputable dealer, not a big city dealership that does volume over quality, you will be alright.

I'm told enthausist are aware of the Camaro and pre-ordering, yet only 7500 (give or take) have been ordered. And I've been told that GM/Chevy hasn't started to advertise the car yet to the "rest of the public" yet the Camaro represents a possible life saving vehicle for GM.

My question is simple, is GM stupid??? Why the hell haven't they had a media blitz??? Something like this would be nice:

What am I missing here??

The average buyer doesn't place an order for a car they won't have for about 4 months.
